If American media outlets had enough principles to do something like this?

Seriously, at least when the BBC screws up and airs false reports, the powers that be (or should I now say, used to be) aren't afraid to take a look in the mirror and subject themselves to legitimate investigation. How come no one at ABC, NBC, CBS, CNN and (ghast!)... Fox has even considered apologizing to their viewers and admitting they were mouthpieces and not journalists in the run-up to the police action in Iraq?
